Stable News: Around the farm we love coming up with fun and creative ways to solve everyday horse keeping challenges. With the sudden increase in temperature and humidity in the last week, the flies are back with a vengeance, and the battle ensues. Though we cannot take credit for this awesome stable hack, as someone gifted us the idea back at our spring open house, we just have to share it with you… You can use a dishwashing wand (the kind with a handle you can fill up and a sponge applicator) as the perfect applicator for fly spray for a horse’s face and ears. We are excited to share more “stable hacks” as the seasons begin to change.
Training Tip of the Week: It is so important for us to expose our horses to as many things as possible. The more situations that we can create and use as teaching moments, the more prepared our horses will be for whatever life throws at them. Exposure to everyday things like dogs, farm equipment, children, etc. can create perfect opportunities for learning. You can also get creative and build obstacles, or even practice things like horse agility, cow work, roping, you name it, it is all beneficial to your horse. Helping our horses become lifetime learners right along side of us, will set them up for success no matter what discipline they end up participating in.
Rescue Horse Spotlight: We are so excited to announce that Lucy has been adopted! We wish Lucy and her new family both human and equine the best of luck and a happy future together.
