1996 American Hanoverian
Cassiopeia, or Cassie as we like to call her, was purchased from a known horse trader at the New Holland Auction in May, 2016. She is a registered American Hanoverian mare. She is Bay in color and stands 16hh. Her quiet demeanor while standing around and waiting to be auctioned off at the sale caught our eye. She was engaging and interactive while the horses around her were raising a fuss. That was when we noticed a US bred Hanoverian brand. Hanoverians usually go through a rigorous approval process before they can be used for breeding, so we knew Cassie came from good stock. We figured she was thanking her lucky stars after we came along, hence her name. We are looking forward to finding out what she knows.
Update: Cassie has found her forever home right here in Midcoast Maine! We are so happy for her to continue her training and conditioning with such an experienced and caring horsewoman.
UPDATE: After six wonderful years with her loving owner, sweet Cassie was put to sleep when it became that her advanced age had finally caught up to her. In her last years, Cassie was the matriarch of the farm where she lived, providing guidance to several younger mares and affectionately known around the barn as ‘Grandma.’ We are so grateful to Cassie’s owner for providing this mare with excellent care and love in her golden years. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
