Jackpot joins our program from our new partnership with Dorset Equine Rescue in Vermont. This gorgeous boy is solidly built, has great feet and stands about 15.2 hh. We had him DNA tested and learned that he is a Rocky Mountain Horse! He is thought to be around 8 or 9 years old and has shown to have some concern around people–so it seems likely that he has some unfortunate experiences in his past. The trainers at Dorset worked extensively on helping him to relax and feel less anxious, and he has continued to build on that foundation in our program.
Jackpot has been started under saddle and is being ridden at the walk, trot and canter in the arenas. However, his true calling may be on the trails as he loves to go out and explore with a friend. Jackpot has come a long way with slow, steady repetition and we look forward to continuing his progress as a riding horse. He has lovely ground manners, is confident with ground work and our obstacles, and also ground drives/long lines well.
UPDATE: Jackpot has been adopted! He headed home to New Hampshire in July 2023, where he will continue his education in both the arena and on the trail with his new mom, Mikayla. We are thrilled that Jackpot found such a loving and experienced partner, and wish them both many happy years together. Congratulations!
