Jenko is an 8 year old, 15 hh registered Quarter Horse gelding. He is with us for training from the MSSPA. Jenko rides in English or Western tack and has lovely gaits. This sweet boy trailers, ties, bathes, and is quiet to work around in the barn. Jenko is learning how to stay soft, balanced and steady under saddle and is looking for an experienced rider to continue with his education.
Jenko has made steady progress during his time in training. We have worked on teaching him how to use his hind end, soften over the back, and bend through his body. While with us, Jenko has gone on several trips off property to the Camden Hills, the local fairgrounds, and to an overnight clinic at Piper Ridge Farm with Brian and Luke Neubert. Jenko not only enjoys having a job in the area but will happily hack out on the trails alone or with a friend. Jenko is a truly versatile horse that could excel in many different ways at many jobs or disciplines. However, we do think the western world seems to be his calling.
Jenko is a truly one of a kind horse with loads of personality and potential. With the right person he could be a lot of fun and extremely successful. Jenko is looking for a forever home that will be able to continue his training and give him the consistent work that he needs. This horse is a fun, forward ride and has loads of potential to go in any direction with the right partner. If you are interested in Jenko please fill out an application on the MSSPA’s website.
UPDATE: After an initial adoption fell through, we were thrilled to hear that Jenko made a quick turn around and was adopted out to a new home in Maine. He will be enjoying a busy life with plenty of variety, as Jenko’s new mom Heather plans to do a little bit of everything. We know that he will love the trail versatility, off-property outings, Western pleasure, and cow work that Heather has planned, and wish them both many happy years and great adventures together. Thank you, Heather, for opening your heart and home to a very special horse who just needed to find his special person. Congratulations!
UPDATE: After a wonderful year together, Jenko unfortunately had to find a new home when Heather was faced with unexpected health issues. Tragically, after a short time in his new home, Jenko suffered a broken leg in a pasture accident and had to be euthanized. We were broken hearted to hear this news as Jenko was a unique horse who we all loved working with and getting to know. We trust that Jenko is now running happily through the green fields of horsey heaven… rest in peace, sweet boy.
