“Not My First Rodeo” is a 15.2 hh, 11 yo Standardbred gelding who comes to us from Futures for Standardbreds. ‘Roady’ raced until just this past spring, and was a favorite of his former owner and trainer. When it became clear that Roady was ready to slow things down a little, his trainer submitted an application to FFS, and he was accepted into their program.
Roady has only been with us a short time, but has already impressed with his lovely manners and friendly personality. This sensible gelding is currently being ridden 4-5 days a week, working at the walk and trot in the areas, focusing on steering, suppleness, and consistency. Roady is also gaining confidence out on the trails, and enjoys venturing out with a buddy for support. He recently took his first trip off property to Camden Hills State Park and was a gentleman throughout the ride. Roady is a pleasure to have in the barn, and we know he would make someone a fabulous next partner. If you are interested in Roady please fill out an application on our website.
UPDATE: Just in time for Christmas, Roady has been adopted into a wonderful family from Western Maine. He will enjoy a life of trail riding and building a relationship with his loving new mom, Gail. We are so thrilled for Roady and wish everyone many happy years together. Congratulations!
