Romeo is a 33”, 17-year-old gelding joining us for training from Gerda’s Equine Rescue in May 2025. Romeo was a cryptorchid until very recently, and was said to be owned by the Amish before being sent to auction. Romeo appears to have a long history of hoof neglect, and has a significant deformity in his right front hoof that may be congenital or the result of an old injury. We are also awaiting the results of a PPID (Cushings) test. Our focus with Romeo at the moment is to address his physical and emotional needs— he is very scared and would prefer to not be caught, though he is “compliant” once he is on a line.
