Samir is a 15 hand, 10 year old Arab/Morgan cross gelding who is with us for training from the NHSPCA. Samir is very sweet and loves people, but had very limited handling before his arrival. Despite his lack of exposure, when Samir came to us, he already stood quietly to be brushed, and was good for the vet and farrier. This little cutie is very smart and caught on quickly to the concepts we introduced such as groundwork, obstacles, ground driving, working in the round pen, lunging, and ponying off a friend out on the trails.
Samir has now been started under saddle and is doing extremely well. Though still green, he can walk, trot, and canter in the arenas. He is coming along well and we are slowly starting to request more of him, such as asking him to push from his hind end and start to accept more contact. We have been hitting the trails with Samir at every opportunity, and he seems to truly enjoy being out and about. Though he is still building confidence and enjoys the company of a friend we think this will be Samir’s preferred activity.
Samir is a fun, forward-thinking ride and is happiest when exploring the trails. Though we have primarily ridden Samir English, we have also introduced him to the Western saddle a few times. This is a lovely, friendly, athletic little horse with loads of potential, and we love watching his progress. If you are interested in Samir, please contact us.
*Update: After being with us for training the past year, Samir has found his forever home! We are very excited to see Samir go to such a loving home with his new mom, Sarai. Samir will be living out his days in NH and taking part in various activities including trail riding, pleasure riding and hopefully some shows. We grew very fond of Samir during his time here, but we are happy to see him move on to new things!
