Sundance

Sundance is a 9 year old, 14.2 hh Arabian gelding who joins us for training from our friends at the Dorset Equine Rescue. Sundance was rescued from a Texas kill pen in January of 2024, and he still has a ways to go before his physical rehabilitation is complete. Thus far Sundance has proven to be a sweet, sensible little guy and we look forward to helping him regain full health while gradually introducing some ground work. We will be sure to post further updates on Sundance as they become available. 

August 2024 Update: Sunny has been learning all sorts of new things since he arrived at Horses with Hope in mid-May 2024. He caught on super quickly to lowering his head when cued (sometimes a big ask when it comes to our Arabian horse friends!) and has since started wearing a bridle with a rubber bit and wearing a surcingle. He is taking to the concept of ground driving very well, and is learning the basics of steering while we ask him to soften through his ribcage. He appreciates when his trainer is creative— he’s very smart, so he can get bored if he feels like he’s being drilled. Sunny passed his vet check with flying colors, so we will begin evaluating him as a potential riding horse in the near future! Slow and steady wins the race, even with a quick study like Sunny.
