Horse Rescue, Horses with Hope

Giving Horses Hope in Maine

Pebbles-Companion Only

2013 Quarter Horse- Non-Riding Home Only

The day after Jake’s arrival in late August, 2016, we had another horse coming into our rescue for fostering and training. This time it was a special delivery from Whispering Woods Farm Maryland We have teamed up with Jeanne’s organization again, and together we are hoping to make a difference in the life of Pebbles!
Pebbles is a 3-year-old Dun QH mare. Last summer, when she was 2, Kris Young and Rocky’s Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. saved her from a kill pen. After spending a year at Rocky’s Horse Rescue,  Pebbles came to Whispering Woods as a companion for an older horse named Baxter and learned some basic ground manners. She was a quick learner and is now ready for the next phase of training.
She will be staying through the winter and once ready, we will be helping her to find her forever home. Pebbles is bright, curious and really enjoys interacting with people.
We are very fortunate to have these opportunities, to partner up with other rescue organizations and to have a positive impact on horse’s lives.
Together…we are stronger. Please join us and follow along as we start the next chapter of this exciting journey.

UPDATE:  After spending the winter in training and part of the Spring, Pebbles was still showing a general fear and aversion to the saddle.  After a lot of investigating, she has been diagnosed with kissing spine, which is a developmental disorder that leads to pinching of the vertebrate in the horse’s back. Due to this and the extreme reactions that she sometimes has when saddled, we have decided it is best for Pebbles to go to a non-riding home.  She is very sweet and would make a wonderful companion horse or even therapy horse in an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy setting.  She will be returning to Maryland on August 14, 2017.
