Glory is a coming 10-year-old unregistered thoroughbred mare, joining us for training from the MSSPA in February 2025. Glory arrived at the MSSPA in July of 2023 after living her first 8 years out in a field with her mother and a stallion (presumably her father). Because she had never been separated from her dam until then, Glory tends to become herdbound— but she has a very sweet and eager-to-please nature that will hopefully help her overcome the anxiety that she has when away from her friends.
We will spend the next few months getting to know Glory, teaching her the foundations of groundwork and basic care, and evaluating her future as a potential riding horse. We are looking forward to getting to know her!
May 2025 update: Glory has made a lot of improvements, both physically and mentally! She has gotten much stronger, become more coordinated, and her body soreness has almost completely dissipated. Glory is also having an easier time staying focused on her handler— while she still experiences a lot of anxiety in the stall without a horse next to her, she is able to come out and work on her own or with other horses around. We plan to continue building her groundwork skills, and will slowly introduce her to tack in the coming months before evaluating her potential as a riding horse.
