2003 Sorraia mustang gelding
Yuma came to Maine in 2009 from South Dakota, along with fellow mustangs Echo, Magic, and Winny. At the time he was green broke to ride, but needed lots of additional training before finally becoming the mostly solid citizen he is today. Due to his quirky personality and some mild physical limitations, Yuma has become a lifetime herd member here at the farm. Thanks to his years of schooling, Yuma can now earn his keep both as a valuable training partner and as a representative of our training methods during local outings and clinics. He is forward thinking, loves the trail, and likes to keep other horses in line- all of which makes him a perfect match for young horses in need of exposure. Yuma has helped many rescues take their first rides around the arenas or trails, and has served as an experienced leader for off-property outings to the fairgrounds, state parks and the beach. He exemplifies the unique personality and versatility of the mustang breed, and we value his contributions as an important member of the Horses with Hope training team.
