Eddie got a haircut!
The adorable group of ‘littles’ at Horses With Hope gained a few new faces this spring: Mikey and Eddie came from the New Holland Auction (PA) in April, and Coco returned to the farm due to a change of circumstances for her family. All three are in great shape, and this past week they enjoyed several visits to the main barn for a chance to cut loose in the arena, work with various ‘obstacles,’ and of course a good clean-up and a bit of hair styling.
Mikey has perfect manners and a lovable personality which quickly made him a favorite around the farm. He is personable, curious, and just ridiculously adorable. He tackled each obstacle with gusto and thoroughly enjoyed all of the grooming and attention he received!

Eddie meets the bear
Little Eddie is a bit more reserved than his outgoing pal Mikey, but he is steadily gaining confidence and is a very sweet and lovable soul. In true donkey fashion he wanted to carefully assess each obstacle before taking it on- but then was perfectly willing to complete every task.
Coco was originally rescued from auction by Horses With Hope, and had been placed with a family for the last several years. She is a sweet mare who has had children on her back. While she is at the farm, we are taking the opportunity to build up her trust and confidence through groundwork and exposure to new obstacles.

Coco over the log
As with our riding horses, we try to expose our minis to as many new situations as possible around the farm. We are always aiming to build their trust in people, and the obstacles are a fun way to help these little guys gain confidence. Minis like Mikey and Coco will also work on ground driving, with a goal of incorporating driving as one of their skills. Through lots of handling and the variety of activities, we hope to create calm, well-mannered minis who will be loving additions to their new families.
