Amir is a 6-year old, 14.1 hh Arabian gelding who comes to us through partnership with the MSSPA. Amir spent the earlier years of his life as a largely unhandled stallion, and was part of a state seizure case this past summer. Fortunately, Amir ended up in the caring hands of the folks at the MSSPA, who gelded him, got him in better physical shape, and began initial training.
After getting to know this sweet gelding, we are impressed by Amir’s friendly personality and smart, curious attitude. He stands quietly for bathing, vet and farrier, and is pleasant to work around on the ground. Amir has been turned out with a variety of geldings during his time with us and has done well with everyone. He is a quick study and has taken easily to everything we’ve introduced him to thus far including; groundwork, lunging, long-lining, ground-driving, ponying on the trails, wearing tack, and obstacles. In the past two months we began riding Amir, and he currently does light ring work (walk, trot) and trails 2-3 times a week.
*Update: Congratulations to Jenna and her family on the adoption of Amir! We are thrilled that Amir has found a family to call his own right here in Maine. Amir will be used for pleasure riding, along with participation in their equine assisted therapy program at Reigning Hope Ranch. We are beyond excited that Amir has found his forever home!
