Apollo is with us for training from the MSSPA. Apollo is a three year old Appendix QH gelding that had a tough beginning to life. He was an orphan foal that ended up being bounced around from home to home where along the way he became intimidating, aggressive, and borderline dangerous. Thankfully through some connections, he found his way to the MSSPA instead of the auction. It was the caring people at the MSSPA that gave Apollo his second chance at life. They gave him the TLC he deserved, which included treating him for ulcers, hoof care, worming, and putting on some necessary pounds. They were then able to realize that Apollo was just misunderstood, and with some time and dedication were able to unveil his untapped potential.

Apollo has been thriving in our program here at Horses With Hope. Apollo has done extensive groundwork, and is now a star citizen to lead and work around. Apollo is also developing a great foundation under saddle. He is currently being ridden at the walk and trot in the arena, and is starting some canter work. We have been focusing a lot on straightness, focus, and target training with him. Apollo is a smart gelding that loves to stay busy and have a job. Apollo would excel in many different directions, ranch horse, versatility, trail riding, potentially even some jumps.
This young horse has loads of potential and would make someone an excellent partner. Apollo is a very fun and interactive horse to work with and we enjoy getting to further his education and be a part of his heartwarming story. Say tuned for more of Apollo’s progress!

UPDATE: Apollo has been adopted! He will be continuing his education right here in Maine, mixing in a little dressage with a lot of trail riding and trips off property. We are so excited for Apollo and his new partner, Dorothy, and wish them both many happy years together. Congratulations, everyone!
