Farley is a 5 year old mini gelding, with us for training from Gerda’s Equine Rescue. Farley arrived at Gerda’s in May 2022 from a neglect situation, and made a lot of progress there. A Strangles infection ending in a stay at the Myhre clinic (and lots of treatments and tests) resulted in Farley trusting people a little less, again, so he was sent to us at Horses with Hope in March 2023.
He is very sensitive and fearful of humans, but he’s also friendly and wants to engage with us. By going slow and being gentle, he allows us into his space, and thoroughly enjoys brushing and a good scratch on his withers. We really enjoy working with him, and we think he will blossom into a sharp, confident pony in no time!
UPDATE: Farley has been adopted! This sweet but very fearful boy was lucky to catch the eye of Grace in Vermont, who has a small farm and a mini in need of a friend. After both a virtual and in person ‘meet and greet,’ the decision was made, and Farley hopped on the next trailer to Vermont! Grace reports that Farley has settled in beautifully, and has already become fast friends with her other mini. We are so thrilled for Farley and wish him and his lovely new family all the best. Congratulations!
