Sir Fei, also known as Feight is an 18 year old OTTB owned by our partner rescue, NEER North. In his younger days Feight raced at various tracks but never had the speed to be very competitive. Unfortunately, he then ended up in a neglectful situation and eventually arrived at NEER in an extremely malnourished condition. After several years of rehab and gentle retraining at a few different facilities, Feight joined our program last year for further evaluation. We were immediately impressed by his sweet and sensitive demeanor and desire to try, even when something scares him. We spent a lot of time helping him to think his way through challenges such as trailer loading, and due to his age, lameness history, and various physical limitations we determined his ideal home would be as a companion only.
Feight is now seeking a home as a companion horse. He can be initially a little nervous in new situations, but settles well and is a gentleman to handle and work around in the barn. This sweet, sensitive boy has overcome serious challenges and traumatic experiences during his life, and truly deserves a soft place to land where he can enjoy retirement. Feight will be with us in Maine until mid June 2022, when he will return to NEER North to continue the search for his perfect home. For more info about Feight, please contact us.
UPDATE: In early June of 2022, Feight was lucky enough to catch the eye of our local vet. A longtime horse owner, she was seeking a companion her retired gelding Skye, whose buddy had recently passed away. Shortly after bringing Feight home, she happily reported that the two geldings had already spent time grooming each other and grazing together! We are thrilled that Feight was able to land in such a loving, caring and knowledgable home, and wish him and Skye many happy years together.
