Honey comes to us from the Santana Center in Rhode Island. This beautiful chestnut mare stands about 15 hh and is approximately 10 years old. It is suspected that she has some previous under saddle training, and the crew at the Santana Center were able to saddle and bridle her with ease. Honey is a sweet, sensitive mare who is still trying to get her bearings after being separated from longtime friends, brought to Rhode Island, and then arriving here in Maine. We will start at the beginning with Honey, and build up slowly as we gain her confidence.
Initial evaluation has shown us that Honey loves a good grooming, is very friendly and people oriented, and has a basic understanding of groundwork. Honey’s challenge will be in learning how to relax and stay focused on her handler rather than her horsey friends. We are very excited to begin work with this lovely lady, and will post regular updates as we progress in her training.
Update: Honey has found her forever home! Honey will be staying in Maine and continuing her under saddle training with her new mom, Lisa. Once Honey has more experience under saddle, her new mom has hopes to hit the trails with her! We are so excited that these two found each other and can’t wait to see what they accomplish together.
