Oak is a 5 year old, off the track thoroughbred gelding who is with us for training from NEER North. Oak is extremely friendly, stands quietly for vet, farrier, and bathing, and gets along well with other horses. He has had some good down time and gentle post track training, but sustained an injury in turn out which required time off to heal. After several months working up from stall rest, to handwalking, to turn out, Oak is now back to a regular routine and ready to begin his training.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, after several months of gradual return to work Oak came up lame. After a thorough evaluation, our vet diagnosed a soft tissue injury to the left stifle, in conjunction with a more chronic lameness due to the old injury in his right fetlock. At this time, Oak is available for a companion only home, pending further evaluation. For more information, please contact us.
