Roo arrived in October 2017 for foster training from the MSPCA at Nevins Farm in Massachusetts. He is a 6 year old bay who stands about 16 hh. From what has been pieced together regarding his history, Roo changed hands several times and eventually turned up in the killpen at auction. He was seen and saved by a previous owner, but once again Roo was neglected and ended up with the MSPCA in the fall of 2016. At that time Roo was in poor condition, and had an injury with scarring to his left hind cannon bone. Radiographs showed it to be superficial with no structural damage, and Roo received some training once he had recovered physically from his neglect.
Although Roo had progressed to walk/trot/canter under saddle upon his return to the MSPCA, they felt strongly that he would benefit from further training before being made available for adoption. We will be starting at the beginning with Roo, checking to see that he has a solid understanding of the basics before progressing to work under saddle. He roundpens and lunges well, stands quietly for grooming and his feet, and has been introduced to our obstacles with ease. Keep an eye on this sweet boy!
