Shadow is joining us for training from Gerda’s Equine Rescue. Shadow is a yearling Miniature Horse Gelding that was rescued from a Louisiana kill pen last summer with his mother. Shadow has had very little handling and will need to learn all of the basics from being caught and leading, to standing quietly for the vet and farrier. We will have more updates on Shadow when he finishes his quarantine at the end of April.
June 2024 update: Shadow has completed quarantine and is progressing very well in his training! He just had all four feet trimmed by the farrier for the first time ever, and has nearly shed out his yearling winter coat. Shadow is a very smart, people-oriented, and food-motivated little guy. We’re continuing to introduce the basics of leading, handling, and grooming. He soaks up every new experience like a sponge!
UPDATE: Shadow has been adopted! This smart, sweet little guy joins his new family in CT, where he serves as a companion to another (larger) pony. Shadow enjoys lots of quality time with his people and has already brought much love and laughter to the whole family. Wishing everyone many happy years together, and congratulations!
