2005 liver chestnut pony gelding
We found Snickers during our most recent trip to the New Holland auction in Pennsylvania, and brought him home along with Baxter and Acadia. He is approximately 10 years old and 10 hh. He was packed in with many other minis at the auction, but he stood out to us with his friendly and curious attitude as we looked him over. We ultimately chose Snickers both because he seemed so sweet, and because we feared that with his plain coloring he could easily be overlooked among his flashier companions. He hopped right on our trailer for the ride home, and hasn’t put a foot wrong since arriving at the farm–he immediately won over our vet and farrier with his good manners and affectionate personality.
Snickers has been in training for the past two months, and appears to have prior experience with lunging. As we have no history on this cutie, we cannot be sure as to whether he had been driven or ridden before. We’ve begun teaching him to longline, and he was very patient during his first ‘ponyride’ with a 2-year old on his back. With his good manners and friendly disposition, we imagine that Snickers would make a wonderful family pony or pasture companion.
UPDATE: On Easter weekend April 2015, our sweet little Snickers has been adopted! This little equine Easter bunny made a special trip to MA to fill the hearts and home of his new forever family. It was a bittersweet departure, as we miss him dearly but are overwhelmed with the joy of having found him a kind and loving human soul mate who will take very special care of him and ensure the good life of relaxation and frolicking with new friends he so deserves. Congratulations to Snickers and his new forever human and equine companions!
